    Information about TAPS

Twin Anemia Polycythemia Sequence (TAPS) occurs as a result of unbalanced blood flow in identical twins who share one placenta (monochorionic twins).  The donor twin will develop anemia (low amount of red blood cells) and the recipient twin will develop polycythemie (high amounts of red blood cells). This website provides information about different aspects of the TAPS, including prenatal detection, treatment option, delivery and preterm birth, diagnostics after birth and long-term outcome.
